Fun Fact: Despite its name, Bacopa Australis does not originate from Australia. It was discovered in southern Brazil, and the name “australis” refers to its southern geographic origin. With strong lighting and regular trimming, it can develop into a beautiful low-growing carpet or dense bush.
Appearance: Bacopa Australis produces small, rounded, bright green leaves along thin, branching stems. Under strong lighting, the plant tends to stay shorter and develop a compact, creeping growth habit.
Aquarium Use: Excellent for creating dense foreground or midground bushes. Frequent trimming can encourage horizontal growth, while allowing the stems to grow naturally will produce a taller, more relaxed appearance.
Propagation: Easily propagated through stem cuttings. Trim healthy stems and replant them directly into the substrate. The remaining stems will typically produce additional side shoots.
Note: Bacopa Australis is adaptable and relatively fast-growing. Strong lighting, consistent nutrients, and supplemental CO2 encourage shorter internodes and a thicker, more compact appearance.
