About the Chulae Goby
Name: Mugilogobius chulae (Chula Goby)
Max Size: Up to 2 inches
Water Parameters: pH 6.5-7.5, temperature 72-82Β°F, hardness 5-15 dGH
Diet: Carnivorous - enjoys live and frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. They may also accept finely chopped foods and small sinking pellets.
Temperament: Generally peaceful but can be territorial, especially with conspecifics or similar-looking species. Best kept in a tank with other peaceful, non-competitive tank mates.
Tank Setup: Provide a well-planted tank with plenty of hiding spots created with rocks, driftwood, and caves to mimic their natural habitat. A sandy or fine gravel substrate is preferred, as they often forage along the bottom. Low to moderate water flow is ideal.
Compatibility: Mugilogobius chulae are best kept with small, peaceful species. Avoid housing with larger, aggressive fish that may outcompete or intimidate them.
Behavior: Chula Gobies are active and curious bottom-dwellers. They spend much of their time exploring the substrate and tank decor, occasionally perching on rocks or plants. While generally peaceful, males may show territorial behavior.
Fun Fact: Mugilogobius chulae, or the Chula Goby, is a small, unique species known for its adaptability to both freshwater and slightly brackish environments. Their curious nature and manageable size make them a great addition to nano or specialized community tanks.
