About the Green Terror Cichlid
Name: Green Terror Cichlid (Andinoacara rivulatus)
Max Size: Up to 12 inches
Water Parameters: pH 6.5-7.5, temperature 74-82Β°F, hardness 5-20 dGH
Diet: Omnivorous β enjoys a varied diet including high quality pellets, flakes, live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and small crustaceans. Occasional vegetable matter like spirulina and blanched vegetables is also beneficial.
Temperament: Semi aggressive and territorial, especially during breeding. Generally best kept with similarly sized and robust tank mates.
Tank Setup: Provide a spacious tank of at least 55 gallons for a single specimen, with a sandy or fine gravel substrate and plenty of caves, driftwood, and rocks for hiding and territory establishment. Good filtration and regular water changes are essential.
Compatibility: Suitable with other large, semi aggressive cichlids and robust catfish. Avoid housing with smaller or overly peaceful species as they may be bullied or viewed as prey.
Behavior: Active and inquisitive, Green Terror Cichlids are known for their striking coloration and bold personalities. They may rearrange substrate and decorations, and males become particularly vivid in color during courtship.
Fun Fact: Despite their name, Green Terror Cichlids are not always overtly aggressive. Their name comes primarily from their impressive appearance and territorial nature during breeding, rather than unprovoked hostility.
